The South Downs

The South Downs National Park is laced with footpaths and cycle trails, many offering panoramic views of the South Downs and the ‘Hangers’. The Hangers Way passes through the town, linking up with the South Downs Way at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

The 160-kilometre-long South Downs Way winds along the chalk escarpment and ridges of the South Downs between Winchester and Eastbourne. The undulating route provides a wonderful trip for long distance riders as well as walkers. It is easily accessible via a short walk or drive from Petersfield. For more information visit
