A 22 mile on road cycle route usingquiet lanes to explore this peaceful and scenic area. The route starts and finishes in Petersfield and passes through several pretty villages and offers views across the South Downs.
Edward Thomas Memorial Stone
Located on the Shoulder of Mutton Hill, near Steep. An inscribed sarsen boulder erected in 1937 when the hillside was dedicated to the memory of the poet who died on Easter Monday 1917 at the First Battle of Arras.
Gilbert White's House & Oates Museum
A historic house set in beautiful gardens, home to Gilbert White, the 18th century naturalist and author. Fascinating Antarctic exhibition to Captain Oates, who went to the South Pole with Captain Scott in 1912.

The Petersfield Community Centre is a meeting point for many organisations, clubs and societies. Our four rooms/halls are used by national (eg Blood Service and British Gas plc), regional (eg HCC Social Services and tertiary education) and local groups (eg University of the Third Age, Dog Training, Bee Keeping, Embroidery Groups, Ramblers, Philatelic and Bridge Clubs). Petersfield Off-road Cycle Trail
One of the hardest trails! It explores the countryside to the north of Petersfield, including Stoner Hill, Little Switzerland and Hawkley village. The climbs are very challenging, but reveal some spectacular scenery. The return section uses the quiet lanes around Froxfield to link back to Stoner and Petersfield.

Petersfield Physic Garden
The garden, given to the Hampshire Garden Trust by Major John Bowen in 1988, is situated behind the buildings on the north side of the High Street. It occupies the last remaining medieval burgage plot in the town and is still enclosed within stone walls. The garden contains many of the features that would have been found in a 17th-century gentleman's garden. All the plants, shrubs and trees featured in the garden were known in England in that time.
Queen Elizabeth Country Park
The largest Country Park within the South Downs Ntional Park, with 600 hectares of dramatic downland and beautiful woodland. 4 miles South of Petersfield on the A3
Rotherlands Local Nature Reserve
This walk takes you through one of Petersfield's hidden gems beside the River Rother. The Reserve can be accessed from Pulens Lane or from near the Rugby Club. The Reserve is maintained by volunteers from the Rotherlands Conservation Group.
South Downs Way
The 160-kilometre-long South Downs Way winds along the chalk escarpment and ridges of the South Downs between Winchester and Eastbourne. The undulating route provides a wonderful trip for long distance riders as well as walkers. It is easily accessible via a short walk or drive from Petersfield.
Taro Leisure Centre
A swimming complex with water slide, whirlpool and health suite and extensive dryside facilities including squash courts, fitness centre, sports hall and soft play.
The Flora Twort Gallery

The Hangers Way
The Hangers Way is a 21-mile long-distance walking route, which begins at Alton Railway Station, out into the lush Hampshire countryside, along a series of steep-sided wooded hills, known as “The Hangers”, through the pretty market town of Petersfield to finish at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.
The Heath and Pond
The 22-acre pond is surrounded by 69 acres of heath and woodland. The pond is be used for boating and fishing. The play area is also very popular and the toddlers part has recently been renewed. The home if the Petersfield Cricket Club.
The Market Square
The Market Square is an historic square with interesting streets, buildings, shops and places to eat and drink. It hosts the Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and also the monthly Hampshire Farmers Market. The Library, TIC and Post Office face The Square.
The Selborne Gallery
Contemporary Artist run Gallery, with ceramics, jewellery, glass, sculpture, painting, prints at affordable prices. We have been going for four years and all our artists are from Hampshire. We regularly change the show with five exhibitions a year.
The Serpent Trail
A 64 miles (108km)route which through the beautiful heathland landscapes of West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. Waymarked by Serpent Trail discs, the route showcases the work of the Sussex Wealden Greensand Heaths Project and highlights the outstanding landscape of the greensand hills.
The Staunton Way
The Staunton Way is a 8.5 to 20.5 mile route from Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Petersfield on the South Downs to Staunton Country Park near Havant. You can walk the whole route or one of the six sections, each offering a good day out.
The Sustainability Centre
The Sustainability Centre is spread across 55 acres of woodland and natural chalk downland, in the heart of the South Downs National Park. We welcome families and schools; professionals and special interest groups; walkers and cyclists on the South Downs Way and children and young people.
